I believe a NYT wedding announcement is the very definition of "intentional status symbol".  [/quote]

Yeah, I don't think first PP realizes that if you're even nominally interesting (went to posh prep or college), you just call those in and dictate the details. In other words, you have to tell them about it, unless you're a Kennedy, so, yeah.[/quote]
