I assume this means they’re actively looking to fill out their team or improve on gaps. That doesn’t mean they aren’t developing the existing team and instead just bide their time and wait for the next best thing.

I guess some clubs have an initial tryout of 8 year olds and don’t look beyond those 18-23 kids at all in the next 4-5 years. (Do they then cancel or not hold tryouts if no team member quits? Isn’t the point of tryouts that you welcome all comers and the best can earn a spot?).

Many don’t behave like that, however.

Just go on Instagram and look at all the elementary school aged teams aggressively advertising their tryouts and open practices. If you’re just locked in to your existing OG crew, you wouldn’t be doing that. Many teams want to pull in new players for various purposes. I’m sure a long list of the usual 2033/2034 suspects want to.
