In short, if you are a Notre Dame football recruit, look elsewhere; if you are a Notre Dame football player, transfer.
And this forum is a magnet for football recruits so ND should be scared.
Alums should be embarrassed. If I see a ND sticker on a car I’ll definitely look down on that person.
Do you look down on everyone associated with every organization when someone in it makes a bad decision? Do you look down on all people flying American flags when the administration does something terrible? All employees of a comany when the CEO maked a poor decision?
Not the poster whom you quoted. I agree that the ND football situation should not result in denigrating everything & everyone associated with this outstanding university, however the reality is that the University of Notre Dame and Notre Dame football are inseparable; the arrogance of Notre Dame football and its fans has created a situation where folks and institutions are tired of bowing down to ND football--yet we will still do so if the University and its football program and its AD act in a more dignified manner regarding this heartbreaking situation.
I think people mistake independence for arrogance. Being independent isn't arrogant, it is simply what it is. Unfortunately for others, they don't have the luxury of being independent. ND does. And as long as it continues to pay off, they will continue. This is just a little bump in the road. It will smooth out soon enough. It always does.
Stumbled across this x post last night, which highlights one of those bumps ND got over many years ago.
