Don't ask a question if you're not prepared to hear the answer... [twitter]https://x.com/TheChiefNerd/status/1965543653319004590[/twitter]
Direct hit on the USS Credentialism. Need immediate post-nominal support. Not a drill!
Honestly, that was pretty sick
They’re citing a non-peer reviewed study which has selection bias. Sick, and making us all sicker.
I am somewhat nonplussed about that this is the rejoinder. That it is not peer-reviewed is precisely the point; the authors were (supposedly) too scared to try to publish it. The selection bias point is an important one, but people are wielding the phrase like it is conclusive. It really is more nuanced. On the one hand, it is easy to imagine (1) that the unvaccinated are more suspicious of the medical establishment and (2) people who see the doctor get fewer diagnoses for reasons other than health. On the other hand, it’s also true that healthier people go to the doctor less often, and, besides, many of the conditions of interest (like ADHD) are *not* diagnosed by a routine doctor visit.
