When they all bubble together it looks like a mess. For example, without any word about the $50,000 it just looks like a terrible idea from the outside. It could be that each board member wrote a donation or it is a grant from somewhere. That would be cause for celebration. Sure, only a few kids get to go, but GOOD FOR THEM! As it seems now, people are wondering why that money can't be used for something that benefits EVERY child at the school. As PPs mentioned: books, computers, instruments, etc. Unless the administration and board get a handle on their never-ending PR problems and become just a little more open to communication this type of situation will be a recurring problem.
