CNN right now discussing how both terrorists were former military. They are focusing on the profile of being disassociated from society as a key factor.
I think we have a former military turned radical problem. According to this article, they are radicalizing at a faster rate than the general population. https://apnews.com/article/military-extremism-pentagon-veterans-terrorism-capitol-riot-jan-6-0c1fdd7b6b761e9c9e8556a9b9e45dc9
I sadly believe this...I know some former marines that are MAGA and with every passing year seem to become more and more extreme in their thoughts and beliefs. It's unsettling.
Can you blame them? They were lied to about going to war. I bet this guy joined ISIS because if he figured out they get paid better government salaries from the Pentagon
There’s no evidence he joined anything or was part of any organization. More likely he’s an angry failure who fantasized about doing a crazy destructive act and chose ISIS as his cover story. He killed random partiers on Bourbon Street, not political or religious or symbolic targets.
ISIS doesn’t need you to formally join them and routinely target civilians so not sure what you are getting at here. It doesn’t make it any less dangerous.
