I’m disappointed. It seems like Trump is already walking back all of his promises. He’s not actually going to deport illegals. He’s not going to lower grocery prices. He isn’t even going to pardon all the J6 patriots.
You are surprised a known serial liar lied? You're surprised a nepo baby billionaire who has never cared about anyone but himself doesn't care about his constituents or campaign promises? "Don't call us morons, that's why we voted for Trump!" Scream morons who can't stop doing moronic things.
So here is how this shakes out: MAGA voters A) will never hear about the facts of Trump’s second term from their hermetically sealed Conservative echo chamber. Fox News never covers it and in fact, Fox News will never mention immigration at all, and all of the Maga voters will believe it’s been solved. B) the republicans will continue to malign the very institutions they now control as wasteful, dysfunctional, and corrupt. They will continue to be nihilistic turds for ( in most cases ) political gain and in other cases for ideological zealotry. And MAGA voters will continue to slide further down the toilet away from a belief in democracy. There is no expertise or competence. We as a country can’t conceive of doing big things. American exceptionalism is dead. And they will keep voting officials that tell them that. And then proving it. Rinse repeat. C) we become a fully pay to play kleptocracy. And the masses buy Trump perfume and never notice the they got nothing. Happy Holidays!
I think one of the reasons that the left is so out of touch is that they use a framework of the right that existed 10 years ago. Their insistence that Fox News is the main source of information is a great example of this. Republicans left cable News behind a long time ago. So much, that if you answer that you get your News from cable, pollsters immediately identify you as being on the left. The person here saying they are upset that Trump won't deport people, etc isn't on the right. I'm on the right, and I had never even HEARD the claim that Trump would free J6 prisoners until AFTER the election, when a Democratic relative brought it up. It wasn't a campaign promise. It was words that were, per usual, taken out of context and bandied about in the leftosphere to scare people. That person is most definitely a troll because no one on the right is really tracking this. And it would be a controversial point, because they shouldn't be given carte blanch pardons. Similar for the border. The left breathlessly told everyone that Trump would not only deport illegals, but also all black people. I mean, what the...? That's just crazy. He only promised to aggressively attempt to remove illegals, starting with the most dangerous ones (violent criminals). The economy? Yeah, that remains to be seen.
What do you mean, "remains to be seen" on the economy? Here are definite, concrete promises he made: He promised to eliminate inflation. He promised to drive prices down and make America affordable. He promised to pay off the national debt. He promised to drill baby drill and increase oil and gas production (never mind that we are already producing more oil and gas than at any time in American history, and that the price points for more aren't right for the oil and gas sector). He promised to create jobs and bring manufacturing to the US. He promised to invest in infrastructure. (example citation for the promises above: https://www.usnews.com/news/national-news/articles/2024-08-14/trump-lays-out-economic-plan-everything-from-cutting-taxes-paying-off-the-debt-to-drill-baby-drill ) He promised to end taxes on tips. He promised to end taxes on social security. (example citation for those two promises: https://www.politifact.com/article/2024/nov/13/ask-politifact-what-are-donald-trumps-second-term ) He promised deportation of illegals as a positive economic change. He promised significant tariffs against other countries as a positive economic change. (citation for those two promises: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/frustrated-americans-who-voted-for-trump-await-the-economic-changes-he-promised ) How many of those do Trump voters actually still expect him to follow through on? And do you genuinely think that deporting illegals and imposing tariffs will have a positive impact on the economy?
