It goes a long way.[/quote] Teacher didn't submit recs in time: teacher's fault (assuming adequate advance notice). Teacher submitted insufficiently effusive rec: not teacher's fault. (Could reflect teacher's natural communication style, actual unremarkable student performance, unclear rubric for evaluating.) Easy enough to teach our kids to study hard, respect authority, turn in work on time, etc. Harder to teach them the proper time/place/manner/degree of follow up that will ensure timely completed recs, endear the student to the teacher as an attentive smart kid concerned with their future, and not offend the teacher by presenting as too needy/demanding/entitled.[/quote]
