So many of these names sound cool in theory but would quickly become tedious or pretentious on the wrong person. I think you take a real risk giving a kid a name like Tex or Athena, because these are statement names and if the personality fit isn't just right, it's off-putting in a way that less dramatic name can never be. Like you might think Olivia and George are boring names (and the I might agree with you), but people with those names could still be super cool. And if they aren't super cool, people are not going to roll their eyes at those names.

All of which is to say: I know adults with some of these name who are NOT cool and I think the fact that they have names like this actually makes them less likable. Like I know an Athena who is a hall monitor type, and if her name was Linda I think she would annoy me less.[/quote]
