And for those who were asking another poster why they applied if the cost is too high, we did because our in-state option was not a sure thing. So many kids apply to our in-state school from our high school that we were questioning whether she'd be accepted. We also had no idea if she'd get merit from the other two OOS schools she applied to. We COULD pay VT rates if we had to (had she not been accepted or not gotten merit elsewhere) but it isn't our preference.

For us, in-state option is $24K, two OOS schools are $36K (includes merit). VT is $48K (includes $3K merit). She is most likely going to one of the OOS schools for $36K.[/quote]
