I think 15 year old teenagers are old enough to decide whether they want to be filmed or not.
Yes, because 15 year olds make good decisions all the time.
There are plenty of teenage celebrities that are used to being in the spotlight. They aren't babies anymore, their dad hasn't been a part of their lives for awhile and if they are comfortable being on camera with their mom why shouldn't they be able to do so? Jon is being vindictive at this point and just hurting Kate because he can. Ironically, Jon is the one hitting the talk shows and dishing out embarrassing little tidbits about his ex wife and his own children.
John is trying to be a parent and put the kids first. Wing on tv and no privacy is not a childhood. John has been slandered for years and under a gag order. Good for him. Those celebrity teenagers are by choice and not 24-7 with cameras.
Jon is the one who doesn't want the kids to be on camera. The kids are clearly not the ones saying that they don't want to be on camera. As always, Jon is putting his own wants first and completely ignoring the fact that Kate and their kids are separate entities who have the right to live their own lives as they see fit. Kate objects to Jon's attempts to control her and I can't blame her. Jon is winning on legal technicalities, not because his kids agree with a thing that he is doing to "stand up for them". Like Cara and Maddie they probably resent the heck out of their dad for intruding into their lives in such a contentious way.
How do you know the kids liked being filmed? Do you have any idea how many hours of filming are required for a30 minute episode? That is hard work for a child, why do you think labor laws exist for child actors. A few years ago, one of the twins didn’t want to go on “vacation” for filming, Jon went to pick her up and Kate threatened to have him arrested. How is that looking out for the best interest of your children?
I haven't seen the most recent tapings of the kids but my impression is that they were more little snippets of their reactions to the Kate + Date show. I highly doubt that they were working any more hours than the typical HS kid works at their PT job flipping burgers. The whole thing seems very spiteful. I am not aware of the incident where Jon came to "rescue" one of the twins from going on a vacation with Kate. I am aware of how both Maddie and Cara have expressed how much they dislike their father's conduct and interference. They are old enough to remember how things played out between their parents and they have sided with their mom for good reason.
Do you have any idea how many shows have been filmed since the TV show started and how many hours of filming needs to happen for one show. Kate was found in contempt of court: https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/kate-gosselin-contempt-court-filming-minor-children-tlc-show-without-permits
The contempt of court is apparently related to *recent* filming though, isn't it? And that finding is based on Kate not providing Jon with an itinerary of their filming schedule. Judging by how contentious Jon is being towards her in court and in t.v. interviews I can not blame her for feeling uncomfortable sharing details of her and their teenagers' schedules like that. He is THIS close to being a stalker. She looks very worried, maybe even afraid in some of the court pictures. She needs to be able to live her life and support herself. Her teenagers need to be able to freely choose to film or not to film. Her, now adult, twin daughters choose to support their mom. For Jon it's all about control and what HE wants. He's not listening to his other 6 children.
Jon is their father and he has every right to have 50% say in his children's upbringing. You sound as bad as she is. The teenagers don't have a choice. Those kids have never had a choice. She could get a job, move to a regular house and provide for her kids rather than selling her kids to a tv show. Those kids have never had a normal life or know any different. She constantly badmouths Jon who early on wanted to stop the TV show which was the cause of the divorce. Jon needed to consent to the filing.. Not just being notified of it.
