Manafort and Trump have known each other and worked together for over 3 decades. They both laundered money. This indictment also illustrates to Trump that Mueller knows how to engage in financial forensics and use it in a legal proceeding.
So, let me get this straight. If your best childhood friend was caught embezzling than, you, as his friend, would also be guilty? I know how badly you want your statement to be true, but just saying it does not make it so.
PP, it really is so much more complex than your example. It is merely a wedge to see what's inside the vault of Trump's dealings in general. 1.Trump ran much of the campaign with his own money. 2. Manafort (and Trump associates) have been PAID with that money. 3. They have now established the charges for subpoenas to officially trail that money (although they already have the routes established starting with Cyprus banks and others. 4. If Trump used his "personal accounts" (versus business accounts) to fund this campaign, the trail of Trump's money shenanigans will be laid wide open. These prosecutors ALWAYS find something if it's criminal indictment, even if it's a small amount of money. I would wager they already see the money but need subpoena power to backtrack to it. They really are rabid about this sort of thing.
