The economy sucks. People are too poor to divorce. Also, custody has gotten more favorable to dads. Many women are postponing divorce and just sucking it up because they do not want to only see their children half the time.
This exactly.
Oh no...dad's want to see their kid and the courts are finally listening to men's concerns...oh the travesty...
No one said dad's wanting shared custody is a bad thing. It is great for kids to have involved fathers. I have a good marriage and come from a faith tradition where divorce is not something I believe in except in very specific cases (abuse and infidelity). However, if I did not have those religious beliefs, I would still not consider divorce except in the cases above (abuse or infidelity) specifically because it would break my heart to only be a part of my kids 1/2 the time, miss holidays like Christmas or Easter, see some other woman raising my babies half of the time, etc. I would not want to rock my kid's world and have them grow up being shuffled around except under the dire circumstances above. If I just fell out of love with my husband, or was bored, or was having a mid life crisis, I would just suck it up until my kids were out of the house rather than get a divorce. Having my kids only half the time is that distasteful to me, and I imagine many other women. That is why many women turn a blind eye to infidelity. They can handle sharing their husband but the idea of sharing their kids tears them apart.
