We got our daughter an ipad when she was 2. (Neither dh or I have one, never really wanted one.) Besides being fun for her, it's also been a lifesaver for travel. We don't let her use it at restaurants or anyplace out like that, but for flights it's like having a theater, bookshelf, and toy box all in one little device. There's never been a problem limiting "screen time" - we tell her to put it away when it's time to and she does.
Next it is tv in the room at 5 Cellphine st 7 Laptop at 9 Own apartment at 12
PP here. Oh, the blanks the imagination loves to fill in! Ha, I honestly had no idea it was a big deal. Originally got it at a very young age because dh is blind and it made it possible for him to "read" bedtime stories to her. Along the way we discovered cute little apps that were fun for her to use now & then. Maybe that's why we've never had to fight about "limits on screen time" now that she's older - it's not that exotic to her. FWIW, we don't have a TV and I promise she's a thoughtful and well-rounded person who does her chores and homework. ;-) She would much rather have her own car than apartment, but she's pretty short so I doubt we could get away with helping her get one TOO ahead of schedule.
