If Trump had lost and had said we must stand and fight against corruption in government, and we must continue to stand and fight for more jobs, I don't think anyone would be hearing a dog whistle there.

I could understand if Clinton had said she thought there would probably be riots in the streets if she lost.  Like Trump did.  Or if she had suggested without evidence that the election was rigged and people might not accept the result, like Trump said.  But she didn't say that.

She said girls should never doubt that they are valuable and powerful and you are hearing a dog whistle?

Do you hear dog whistles in past Republican concession speeches, too, like when John McCain said, after losing to Obama, that "Americans never quit. We never surrender. We never hide from history, we make history."

What Clinton said about the transition of power was this:

"We have seen that our nation is more deeply divided than we thought. But I still believe in America and I always will. And if you do, then we must accept this result and then look to the future. Donald Trump is going to be our president. We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead.

"Our constitutional democracy enshrines the peaceful transfer of power and we don't just respect that, we cherish it. It also enshrines other things; the rule of law, the principle that we are all equal in rights and dignity, freedom of worship and expression. We respect and cherish these values too and we must defend them."

I just don't see how you can possibly hear that as a dog whistle to rise up and challenge his right to take office.[/quote]
