I think it's useful for OOB parents who make the choice to commute to speak up...not because it's an apples to apples comparison but to show that commuting is not impossible. If you don't want to commute for two years, then come up with an alternative plan for your child. H-A's SIT and DCPS should NOT have suggested swing spaces such as Hardy that only caused those of us at other Hardy feeders to be hyper aware of your seeming indifference to disrupting my child's middle school for your convenience. The suggestion of Hardy was made without even consulting the Hardy community. How the hell did plans get drawn up with a bubble tent taking up Hardy's outdoor space without anyone thinking, "hey, we should talk to Hardy families." Now my sympathies for H-A are greatly diminished.
I agree. H-A community became indefendible the moment they started lobbying for swing space on the Hardy MS premises. You should have concentrated your efforts on the Ellington field instead (be aware that the mentioned Ellington field is not the Duke Ellington high school field, rather an empty field between 38th St NW & R St NW) . Instead, misguided by Jack Evans, you decided to take sides with a bunch of Georgetown/Burleith residents living next to the Ellington field, and declared war against the Hardy community, and against its huge and increasing feeder school basin. You lost. Now, what do you want?
