I was not homeschooled, and if it was common when I was in 7th grade in the early 80's, then I didn't know about it. I'm sure it varies a lot depending on where you live and what type of community it is. I was not a popular girl, so I wasn't going to parties, I was hanging out with my small group of girlfriends and we were completely innocent. We wouldn't have known what the popular kids were doing. I have a high schooler now who tells me that drinking and fooling around was rare at his middle school, while from what he heard, those things were much more common at a neighboring middle school.
