That said, I agree with the PPs that the show has gotten entirely too gimmicky.  The writers/producers like to go on and on about the "story they're trying to tell," but it seems pretty obvious that they're being gimmicky, incorporating a lot of really forced twists in order to shock people, and over-using cliffhangers, none of which adds to the story they are trying to tell and, in my opinion, actually gets in the way of any kind of story.

Not to mention, it's pretty much the same plot over and over and over again.  I think the show should have ended a few seasons ago.  I kind of lost interest when they brought back the governor.  That's when I felt like it was about more gimmicks/surprise twists/cliffhangers than it was about any kind of story or character development, whatever.

Now it's pretty much like a gory soap opera: people only tune in to see (1) who will hook up/pair up and (2) who dies.

Totally disagree.  I think it's interesting and they've done a good job keeping it fresh, as did the comics.  The storylines may have some similarities but, at the same time, they are different.  I think very little about who is pairing up and who is "next." I"m just enjoying the ride.[/quote]
