I made a deliberate decision to not watch the episode and just read the spoilers. I had a feeling it was going to be more gory than I could handle and it sounds like I was right. Some of last season's episodes were already interrupting my sleep so I was considering quitting the show anyway. I might just let them stack up on my DVR for a while. There's a website I like: http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/The_Walking_Dead_Wiki They follow the plot and characters in detail for both the TV show and the comic book series. I might just read the episode synopsis on that website for a while so I can keep up and not have to watch the gruesome scenes. You'd think this would be the last season anyway. Who can keep this up for more than 7 seasons?
+1 My husband and I watched last night's episode but I felt sick to my stomach watching the gory details. I've watched the show from the beginning and have always loved it, but this was just too much for me. The eye socket scene with Glenn threw me over the edge. And then Rick almost mutilating his son? No. I couldn't take it. And then to see the last sequence with Glenn and his son, who looked to be about the same age as my Asian/White mixed son... are you kidding me? Too freaking intense, all of it. The zombies are scary and all but the evil characters like Negan keep me up at night. I get that that's the whole point of the apocalyptic world scenario, that the humans can be scarier than the zombies, but as my husband said, why the hell would we want to start our week off feeling depressed and horrible because of this show? I'll follow along via the internet this season but until this storyline breaks off into something new, I'm out.
Could not agree more, PP. I could have written your post (minus the kid who is half Asian, although my son is also around that age). The moment that nearly broke me was when I thought he was going to chop off Carl's arm. I was having heart palpitations and honestly had trouble falling asleep. I've always been invested - to a fault - in the shows that I get really into, so I kept saying to my wife "If they chop off Carl's arm, I can't continue watching this" and I think she thought I was being a little silly.
