The cute part is Church St. It's a small strip of road that runs parallel to Maple. While you're there eat at Sushi Yoshi and grab a cup of coffee from Cafe Amouri.  Go on a nice day and walk around, check out the little museum, let your kids play on the caboose.

This. Note, I do not live in or own property in Vienna, but I do enjoy walking on Church Street (and also on the W&OD).  There is someone here who has an obsession with Vienna, and whenever walkability is brought up, goes on about  Rte123 and mattress stores.  Not sure exactly why.

I cannot say how that compares to the disadvantages of the commute.  [/quote]
