I was very gentle-broke the shit ball in half so never even touched dogs anus , then shower massaged on low stream with warm water the rest that was closer to anus,  Dog was thrilled to be helped and seemed 100 x more comfortable after that.  I was shocked to hear about a traumatic injury-and the ER vet reassured me that it would be quite impossible to cause such injury by what I did.  Dogs anus was not injured, there was a bit of blood but nothing that would suggest a ripped up anus, just like if a person strained and had some blood on toilet paper.

I am not a vet, we trusted what our vet told us upon examining the dog.  You can imagine the guilt I felt, and the devastation that I our dog inadvertently.  So relieved to have the ER vet relieve me of that burden and guilt.

Well, you sought a second opinion and that was the wise thing to do and what you are supposed to do when you have doubts.  The first vet did not operate on your dog and has refunded the vet visit fee.

Write a bad review about this disturbing visit and be done with it.   Find a different vet.  [/quote]
