I made 54,975 last year working at one of the worst schools in this city where kids openly threatened and fought teachers. After benefits and taxes, my bi-weekly take home pay is about $1200. I was going to work summer school because I barely clear $100 a month after rent, school loans, aftercare, and groceries, but my principal told me that we work in such a stressful environment that I shouldn't risk burning out. I disagree with your statement. The pay isn't commensurate with what we deal with, so getting six weeks off isn't too much to ask. [/quote]
