Surely they could have given the long-distance thing a try if they were THAT in love?!  It was just weird.  "You won't marry me?  Ok, see ya."  And Rory didn't even fight for him, she just let him walk away.  She can be very passive.

I think the writers were trying to make a tidy ending.  The break up seemed contrived and thrown in.  It was up in the air whether Gilmore Girls was coming back for yet another season.  If it had been a sure thing and availability of the actor who played Logan was locked in, they probably would have drawn out the relationship into the next season.  Either them reuniting and culminating with a wedding or calling it quits for good.[/quote]
