Boxing day is also almost as dead as the 25th as almost all sights will be closed, but is slightly more active. Public transit also has reduced operating hours. Keep this in mind when planning your transportation out of Britain to Normandy.

You may want to consider staying in France for your entire trip. Paris is lovely before Christmas and is not quite as dead on the 25th and 26th is back to normal. What do you wish to see in Normandy? Late December in Normandy is pretty wet and bleak although you can still visit the main sights.
