My advice would be to carefully read the reviews, see if you can figure out who the people are based on the info given (what you get on the website + google is enough to track the people down and make sure they are who they say they are).

I've met some really interesting people, stayed in some fabulous homes and apartments, and would absolutely use the website again.

Not that it's impossible to have a bad experience, for sure! And I don't know that you'll always save money. But I've enjoyed Air BNB over the comparable hotels that I've found available to me at the time.

And with the apartments, there were other people I was traveling with so we could all share the space - separate bedrooms but shared common areas - which cut down on costs and let us hang out more when we wanted down time.
