The organization of this backlash is from a few very conservative congregations in the area and one outside hate group.  Andrea Lafferty of the Traditional Values Coalition was present and visibly the main organizer when I attended two school board meetings where this topic was discussed and public commentary was given.  I have been to many school board meetings over the years for various reasons and the first of these meeting last year was the most tension filled and hated filled I have ever attended. Yes, thank you. I am fairly conservative and sympathetic to concerns about this issue, but I want no part of a movement that tries to use socially acceptable language and reasoning as a cloak for hate, rage, and prejudice, especially when it comes to children.[/quote]
