The people I know, myself included, who met in person met because they had mutual friends, which indicates mutual interests and values (ie, a groupg who does a lot of drugs or a bible study group), or met in college or grad school (common interest/major or activities), or while participating in hobbies, like running clubs or races. Even the guys I dated that I met at a bar had mutual interests, because they were there to hear a band or a certain type of music, etc. For example.
