It is a problem when ANYONE, boy or girl, is subject to being hit, kicked, poked, or pinched at school.  Everyone has a right to be free from violence and to protect their own body.

A man isn't going to go to prison for defending himself.  At most, he is going to get a misdemeanor charge.  If he pushes self-defense as an affirmative defenses to the charges, he probably isn't even going to take a conviction on it.

Yes, if a man hits a woman after she hits him, he can get in serious trouble for it, if he hurts her. Even if he doesn't hurt her, he could get fired, lose a scholarship, etc.
