Just go into any hotel bar and put on a sign that says "looking to get laid" and you'll have a dozen choices in the next two hours. When I was single I could NOT find someone to hook up with whenever I wanted. And while I'm certainly not Cindy Crawford I would say I'm not ugly at all. Solidly middle of the road, good features and less good but overall a clean and attractive package. And I'm only 30 so not old. And yet if you today would pay me actual money to go do it with a stranger I would have no idea how to go about doing that with a guarantee of success. Just like, I dunno get drunk and go to a club or something? That did not always work for me when I was single. [/quote]

Of course you could. What you mean is that you couldn't find someone who appealed to you. I get that. But if you simply wanted sex this afternoon and were willing to compromise on your ideals you absolutely could. You know this.

Seriously I dont think I could. If I saw someone that DID appeal to me I wouldn't know how to immediately turn that encounter into having sex. WTF, you really think if I just walked up to a guy and asked if he wanted to go do it he'd say yes? Aren't people worried about STDs? If Brad Pitt walked up to me and said that I don't think I'd say yes, so weird. I do not 'know this.'

I think this must just be a belief from guys who believe they are below the 'standards' most women have to make themselves feel better? This is a really strange conviction I think. Because I GENUINELY think that if I went to a hotel bar as some other guy suggested and started to strike up conversations that people would look at me like I was crazy. Any person, regardless of gender, sitting alone at a bar drinking for hours does not really seem that appealing for conversation or sex. [/quote]

This is because you're projecting onto men the attitudes that you would have as a woman. If that makes sense.

You as a woman might see someone sitting alone at the bar and obviously on the make as sad and pathetic. You as a woman might worry about STD's. You as a woman might think they look weird or crazy.

The man however is thinking, "Oh cool, I can have sex with this woman."

No one is saying that you could hang out your shingle and every man would bite. But someone would. Guaranteed. Any average woman under 60 with no obvious deformities could get sex any day they wanted so long as they're willing to lower their standards enough. No way could you say that about a man.
