I slugged into the Pentagon daIly from Woodbridge. It was free and took 20 minutes. I LOVED Lake Ridge. Hated Old Bridge Rd.
No way did it take twenty minutes from Woodbridge to the Pentagon. Why lie. Heck you can spend five to fifteen minutes alone in the line itself.
I'm not the poster who wrote this, but I assume what s/he meant was that once you got on 95 It took 20 minutes. Which is possible if no traffic, but I can't imagine it ever being like that during normal commuting hours.
I have never been on I95 in Virginia without some form of traffic. Heck, there is traffic on I95 South sitting still on the weekend. When travelling to get through NOVA for vacation trips, I prefer to leave before 7am on a Saturday morning. Anytime after 8am, even on Saturday, you are risking sitting in spots. Once you get out of Fredericksburg, the highway miraculously opens up. The extended HOV barely makes a dent because there is bottleneck with the merging traffic at the end of the HO's last exit. When leaving the Pentagon area to travel to Quantico on occasion I look to my left at those commuting in and say, "damn how do they do it every day"? I understand that it takes a certain mindset to do it, and I tip my hat, true road warriors they must be to endure that drive into DC, Crystal City, Pentagon, Ft Myers, etc every day. Heck, doing it 3 days a week with a two-day telework schedule would mentally fry me before starting a day's work. VDOT should be ashamed of itself.
Not everyone who commutes from Woodbridge sits in 95 traffic. Lots of people take the VRE which is very pleasant.
