OP. Fasting isn't an option because I'm breastfeeding. I know that hormones and everything are playing a part to this weight gain and inability to lose weight. I'm looking for real ideas for lifestyle changes! When I say we eat "clean", I don't mean that I follow a fad diet. I mean that we eat healthy. We don't have pop, doritos, and oreos in the house. I need quick, effective ways to lose weight. Thank you to all who replied with ideas and encouragement! :)
Are you exclusively BFing? That will make weight loss more challenging. My success came at the point my DC was mostly on solids. I think anything based on fasting or drastically cutting calories will be very frustrating for you and likely doomed to failure. I would also encourage you to think longer term than "right now". For most people, especially women (and probably double especially BFing women), weight loss is a process of months or years, not weeks. Here are some things that helped me lose about 35lbs in 6mo. Log every bit / sip that goes into your mouth Measure / weigh everything until you know what a portion size looks like Cut all caloric beverages and diet beverages (also helps the wallet) Dropped most sweets except for special occasions but kept a couple of things that could sate a sweets urge .. hot chocolate being my "go to" Have at least 2 servings of fruit and/or veges with every meal (I would challenge myself to finish a salad mix clam shell container every week on my own) Cut back portions and frequency of carbs (bread, rice, bfast cereal, ...) Switch most proteins to lean Since sweets actually make me feel bad, it also helped me to visualize that feeling when I had a sweets craving. You will need to keep fats in your diet. They will help with satiety and they're important for BFing. If you find you're so hungry you go on food binges, you need to add more food. While you're BFing, your body is programmed to maintain weight. Keep a constant stock of fruit & vege and easy to grab protein (hard boiled eggs, string cheese, ...). If you have to have something, drink a glass of water, get a fruit/veg and/or protein, then wait 15 minutes.
