Most DC teachers jump ship over the summer--if they even make it through the year. So who's supposed to go to these PDs? I'll tell you this: If it's paid PD, many teachers will go even though they know full well they have no intentions of returning in the fall. (I think of all the teachers I know who worked summer school for the pay while they were looking and interviewing for jobs elsewhere. They didn't return in the fall.) If it's unpaid, forget it. Those teachers who know they aren't returning (a large number of them), won't bother.[/quote]
