The whole vibe I got from Chronis, Parisot and Kurzenhauser was that they were only running to represent people in Great Falls and western McLean who feel they aren't getting their "fair share" of county resources. I don't know how you win any election in NoVa when you pitch your message to such a small group, no matter how wealthy they are,
The funny thing, is, it's true. Our district pays for most of FFX Cty.
Arrogant and untrue. It's time for the School Board, starting with Janie Strauss, to take stock of how unappreciative the Langley community is of their advantages (lower burden of educating ESOL/FARMS students than other county schools, access to both AAP centers and non-center middle schools, course offerings not available in other pyramids, multi-million renovation of Langley HS, etc.). Start by moving all Langley AAP students to Cooper and follow up by redistricting to add more diversity to the school. Maybe then class sizes can be brought down a notch there and the parents who are out of step with the rest of Dranesville will stop whining that they get nothing in return for their taxes.
Are you seriously insinuating that Langley is the only high school in FxCo to receive a "multi-million $ renovation"? Should we run down the list of the many other high schools which have been beautifully renovated over the years? I've taken my Langley kids to events/competitions at other FCPS high schools and been stunned at how state-of-the-art they are, especially compared to Langley which has been crumbling for years. Why on earth shouldn't Langley (built in 1965) be renovated as well? I'm sure you'd love the idea of Langley kids continuing to go to school in a decrepit building, but thankfully, that's not going to happen.
No one said Langley is the only school ever to get renovated, but you don't regularly find people at other schools claiming that they pay for everything and everyone and get "nothing" in return.
