Things went okay last night (this is OP). She seems nice and he seems happy. They left early today so no seeing the kids this time. I wonder how long I willfeel guilty for my mom. Will this go away? I wonder if this is what it feels if your parents divorce but will no ability to talk about feelings with the parent because my mom won't understand.
Glad it went well. In my experience, having divorced parents doesn't usually include the ability to talk about feelings. My parents are perfectly sane and competent, but completely irrational and impossible to talk to about their divorce. And, of course, divorce can be way worse because the parents are typically no longer caring for each other in a practical sense, so if they don't remarry, it all gets dumped on the kids. I've been both of my parents' next of kin since my 18th birthday, and let me tell you, it sucks.
