I'm in DC area. DS is 12 months old. He has all the symptoms of measles. I'm going to call and see if I can get him into our pediatrication first thing tomorrow (they sometimes have Saturday hours, so I'm hoping tomorrow is one of the Saturdays they are open). But I'm freaking out right now. DS's nose started running on Sunday, and his eyes started turning red and having discharge and he started having diahrrea, fever and cough. Tuesday I took him to his pediatrician and they said he had conjunctivitis in both his eyes, which they weren't sure was viral or bacterial and they gave me a prescription for an antibiotic eye salve. They told me he couldn't return to school until there was no more discharge from his eyes. Friday morning, his eyes were clear when he woke up, and he seemd fine, diahhrea had also resolved. But, later yesterday he started developing a rash. Now it is all over his body and looks exactly the photos online of measles. He had is 12 month appointment on 8/31, and got all of his shots - I'm not antivax and have never refused any vaccinations, so I'm assumming he had his MMR vax, but I can't be sure because it was his dad who took him and he says he doesn't know what they gave him. Could this be a reaction to the vaccine, or would hat have happened sooner? I really hope I'm being paranoid, but I'm freaking out here. Could this be something else? His symptoms were, in order: diahrrea eye's getting red and swollen and pussy they would be sealed shut after sleeping runny nose trouble sleepeing (he's generally a STTN baby) lethargic fever everything seemed to clear up - then he gets an all over body rash He's sleeping now, but that sounds just like measles right? Is there something else it could be??
So- One thing I can't get over here Dad didn't know what shits they gave him. So you didn't know what he got. This is a bit irresponsible. You are the parents. Verify and write down what shits are given, when they are given. I have a complete record of every shot my kid has ever had. It's so easy today with health apps.
omg I just fell onto this page - this very post - and am cracking up! love the error!
