Ditto. I am a white woman with an African American best friend since college.  We are both in our late 40s.  We helped out our alma mater with some events for prospective students a couple of weeks ago.  At each event, she was mistaken for a prospective student and I was assumed to be a parent of a kid. Someone even asked me if I was helping out her mother by taking her to see colleges.  I am not upset because it is not as if I look bad.  I look my age; she does not.  Black women just have more collagen and melanin, which makes for preternaturally youthful skin.[/quote]
