No one with half a brain would consider taking anyone but a highly experienced whitewater paddler into a Gorge. OP, flat-water kayaking is a great idea. See the city from the water. Personal flotation devices have to be worn at all times. To the best of my knowledge, none of the rental outfits (Key Bridge, Thompson, Ballpark, or National Harbor) have had a boater drown.[/quote]
