You guys have a political system that is categorically unsuited for unbridled legislative expression of personal views.  The web of checks and balances that is American politics makes it basically impossible for the president to do what he wants without getting the approval of a thousand more people. In the process of getting this approval, what he wants to do is inevitably diluted, modified or sometimes canned altogether. This is why you see so many elected presidents going back on what they promised during the campaign. It's not because they lied, it's because they discovered the harsh truth that even as president, you can NOT do what you want. Your powers are limited because it is impossible to do what you want without gaining support from other stakeholders. [/quote]
