Trend or not, the most touching funerals, the ones that I think did the most for helping the family cope were the ones that I have been to that are more personal. Much of my family is Catholic and yes, some parishes are leaning away from eulogies and I just find those funerals to be so much less about the person and family, which to me, is the whole point. People can go to mass or bible study about life and death any old day. Just my .02, there is no "wrong" but I find personal funerals with speaking to be more meaningful/ healing. NOT that its a reason for OP to do it at all. No one should feel pressured into this- if someone is unable to do it, that should be respected! [/quote]
