Here are the average SATs for the HSs in order. TJ is magnet. So top 3 are Langley, McLean, Oakton. Buy in these districts. 1.Thomas Jefferson High for Science and Technology - 2219 2. Langley High School - 1865 3. Mclean High School - 1819 4. Oakton High School - 1802 5. Woodson High School - 1798 6. Madison High School - 1788 7. Marshall High School - 1774 8. Chantilly High School - 1710 9. Herndon High School - 1696 10. Lake Braddock Secondary - 1693 11. Westfield High School - 1684 12. Robinson Secondary - 1683 13. South Lakes High School - 1676 14. West Springfield High School - 1675 15. Centreville High School - 1658 16. Fairfax High School - 1635
All well above the national average. Any typical upper middle class fcps family will likely be perfectly successful at any of these school pyramids. I would not mark any of these high achieving high schoops off your list and instead focus on home, community, school culture (middle and high school), elementary size and focus, and quality of life issues. Academically, any of these high schools are exceptional and you don't need to limit yourself to four schools to achieve a high quality education for your kids.
