I'm a dog owner, and truthfully one of those ridiculous ones who posts pictures of her dog on Facebook wearing sunglasses and birthday hats. She is a trusted and loyal friend and I spare nothing at making sure she is happy and comfortable.

But, I also grew up on a farm, and have had wonderful relationships with cows, pigs, goats and chickens. So, I understand that there is nothing "morally superior" about North Americans not eating dogs. I don't clutch my pearls, thinking about Gertie the cow while I eat a hamburger, any more than am I sent into a tizzy or freaking out over an article about food which is an acceptable choice, continents away.
