I'm the OP, and I'm not going to answer the email.  But, yes, Ophelia is a cat name, not a people name!  Also, I'm hormonal from recently having a baby, which I gave a PEOPLE NAME.  The kitten got a name that was NOT on my list of possibilities for dd.

Anyway, my dh's two friends from home and their wives visited last year, and the wives and I were talking about baby girl names.  They both mentioned "Mathilda" as a pretty name!  One of them also liked "Clementine", and they didn't know (about) the song.  They liked some other names that sound silly/weird to me, but which are apparently quite acceptable and even trendy in the UK, so maybe Ophelia isn't a weird choice by SIL.  But even though this is silly, I wouldn't have named my kitten my SIL's secret baby name if I had known...and I now agree with DH that she is "odd."  [/quote]
