I agree with the food before a meltdown, I agree with sticking to nap/quiet time. And I agree with the a no whining policy in general. But locking them in their room for whining at not even 2? I'm just surprised that it works at such a young age. At under 2 my (generally intelligent) kids didn't understand at all what "no whining" meant and would have cried in their rooms for hours if I locked them in there until they got it. They are whining because they are unhappy at that age, not to manipulate. They are older now and whining gets no answer from me and they get the opposite of what they want if they use a whining voice. But I don't lock them in their room. [/quote]
