NP here, but, yeah, this is weird. There is something creepy, to me, about a guy buying a woman an outfit and them making her put it on. Like he's making her look exactly how he wants her to look in his fantasies or something. Ick.  The dinner on the yacht thing is sweet, but the dress thing just strikes me as something my cheese-ball ex-boyfriend in college would have done. And it would have been awkward and uncomfortable. Where in the story did I say he[i] made [/i]me put it on? As if I am without backbone to do as I please...that is a bit offensive. Without going into great detail and length at explaining the origins of said dress, I'll say it was in good taste. I thought it was romantic and he knew it would fit. As to why, that is another story entirely. We were young at the time. Cheesy? Sure, maybe to some. It was shocking initially but not awkward. Poke holes in it all you want- it remains a great memory.
