I cycled at SG a few weeks ago and was not given the option for a day 3 transfer. Of course all of them had arrested by day 5...
This is an example of why I'm curious that they are so pushy for day5/6 now. I've seen plenty of examples of women getting pregnant off of day 3 transfers, and even some from day 2. When I asked, I was essentially told that if they were going to arrest by day 5, the likelihood of implantation and pregnancy would have been extremely low. Still, I've heard anecdotally that some clinics out there feel that the earlier you get the embryo back into the "natural environment" of the uterus, the better. I don't know. We had several blasts to work with by day 6, so it wasn't an issue for me on my recent cycle, but that's no guarantee for any future cycles I may need, and I can't imagine being in your situation and not having the option of a day 3 transfer. I'm so sorry that happened to you.
I used to be a patient there and was thinking about going back to try for another kid, but there is no way I'd do it under this policy. That seems crazy in some cases. For example, if only one embryo is left on day 3, would they really wait two days to transfer it? I can't help this this is partially to boost their stats of percent of transfers that result in pregnancies.
