OP - I just did this same exact trip last Christmas with a 23 month old and a 10 week old. It went SO much better than I could have ever dreamed. We woke up early (4AM) which worked best for our schedule. The babies slept for at least the first three hours. I fed the 10 week old around 8 then we stopped at 9 so we all could eat breakfast and get gas. We stopped again at 1 for lunch and were at our final destination a few hours after lunch. It was perfect and the kids did GREAT. Being with family over the holidays was important to us and I'm glad we made the trip versus staying at home. Your experience will probably be very similar. Good luck.
You did NOT do this trip if you made that kind of time unless you were doing 75 MPH the whole way and your infant was a speedy nurser and you all wolfed your food at every stop. OP, chin up! It's one Christmas. If you want to do it, fly and just realize that that's what's necessary this year. But you and your spouse are going to be massively outnumbered by the beings demanding your time, and it would be unpleasant and glacially slow to get anywhere.
