I think the time change will be a factor. My dd is getting the usual amount of hours of sleep, but is exhausted because she isn't used to the time change. She had the NNAT today. I have no idea how good she did because she is having some discipline issues at school this week.
One thing to consider is that all the other kids have had the time change this week, too. The score needed to move into the pool next year will be partially based on the scores kids get on the NNAT this year and they will all have taken it the week after the time change. I wouldn't worry about it.
Yes, time changed for all kids. However, some kids are affected more than others. Parents schedule affects kids schedule. Early morning risers would have no change in performance. Late sleepers will be affected by time change. You are talking about the biological clock of a 6 or 7 year old. You can talk to any psychologist. NNAT next week or last week would have made it a level playing field. Picking this week for NNAT was not a good idea.
This is a national test, so scores take into account how others kids around the US did.. so if they took it at another time, it's not all kids with the time schedule change.
Yes, the test is nationally normed, but the decisions about what scores are needed to move on to the pool are made locally. They take into account the percentage who score above a certain point and choose the cut off accordingly.
