I don't get why they hate Margaret or Martha yet love Molly.
I'm one of those people. It's just totally subjective taste and what sounds good to my ear. I don't care for hard G sounds (though I am very in love with L and K sounds for whatever reason), so Margaret sounds ugly to me. I'm not saying it IS ugly; obviously millions of parents who've named their kids Margaret would disagree! And Martha doesn't sound pretty to me either - it's too close to Bertha. I do like Molly, though - it sounds more musical to me. FWIW, my DD is named Kate, which is not at all musical but checks every other box for me (strong, simple, classic, I love every Kate I know personally, and I find it aesthetically pleasing on paper - I can't explain why this matters to me but it does!) It's still my favorite girl's name. My favorite boy's names are Mark, Christopher, Nicholas, Ellis, Lachlan, and I kinda like Duncan too. Note the Ls and Ks. Name threads are crazy and I've allowed myself to join the fray many times, not that I'm proud of it. It's so stupid that we all squabble about something so completely subjective. *hangs head in shame* Just my two cents.
