Obama has said that he wants to fundamentally transform America. Make it better is one thing--but you shouldn't want to transform something you love. Look up the meaning.
Please post the speech or remarks where/when he said this. Give us the exact quote with the sentence before and after it.
http://www.nationalreview.com/article/359967/obama-transforming-america-victor-davis-hanson Obama: Transforming America
"We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America." Barack Obama, October 30, 2008

Transforming America: Politics and Culture During the Reagan Years. Good read. Contradicts your point.
I didn't say I read it, nor was I the one who wrote the initial post for this subtopic. - just another lazy DCUM poster Folks, this "debate" serves no purpose. Years ago, I remember having discussions with cousins in Italy who had a love/hate with the US. They love what we have to offer but hate our politics. It's a lose-lose. We are viewed as arrogant, yet the first one the world looks to for support. We embrace women's rights yet these rights infringe upon the rights of others. (You've seen the debates btw. covering according to Islamic tradition and being "free.") We accept immigrants ("Give me your tired, your poor . . . "), yet we can barely keep up with our "homegrown" poverty. We provide an education for all. However, NCLB and Common Core and PARCC haven't exactly leveled the playing field. In fact, Pearson is laughing all the way to the bank. Some of us DO love this country. But the question is - Which part? (or parts?) b/c what I love may not be what you love And at this point, I doubt either side will see eye-to-eye.
