You had a 7th grader in Geometry? Never heard of that. OP you might really want to look at suburban programs for differentiation. DC doesn't let you do APS till 10th grade with few exceptions
BASIS DC has some students who complete the equivalent of 1 year of high school geometry which goes on the high school transcript in 7th grade as well as Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus done in 5th, 6th and 7th grades who go on to AP Calculus AB in 8th grade.
Don't know how this evolved into a thread about BASIS but BASIS does not offer a 1 year geometry course. And if they did I definitely wouldn't want it on my child's high school transcript. BASIS parent currently teaching child Algebra 1 for pre-comps.
Actually a full year of high school Geometry is taught and a full high school credit is given for Geometry upon completion of Algebra 1 and 2 at BASIS since the Saxon books are designed to incorporate a full course in Geometry in their books. Geometry is taught in full throughout Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Pre-calculus. I think it is better to have geometry throughout so that it is not just once and done and forgotten.
